Residents and staff at MHA The Homestead in Carterton marked the approach of Care Home Open Week by hosting their much-loved annual music festival.

The festival, now in its fifth year, welcomed around 60 visitors from the local community and featured live singers, a saxophone performance and opportunities for residents to join in the celebrations. The event is designed to strengthen community connections while showcasing life within the care home.

MHA The Homestead provides residential and residential dementia care for 68 residents, many of whom have a personal connection to music. According to home manager Pawel Wisniowski, some residents have previously recorded songs or performed publicly, making the festival a meaningful opportunity for them to reconnect with their musical passions.

Alongside the entertainment, visitors were invited to learn about music therapy and the positive impact it can have on residents' wellbeing. The celebration included a buffet, cocktails and refreshments for guests.
