A Bedford care home manager has raised more than £1,100 after taking on one of the world’s biggest half marathons.

Ernie Botley, home manager at MHA Anjulita Court, took to the streets of the North East alongside his partner Fiona to complete the Great North Run.

The annual event, which takes place in the North East of England each September, is the world’s largest half marathon and attracts tens of thousands of runners.

Together, Ernie and Fiona completed the 13.1-mile course, with Ernie finishing in an impressive time of two hours and 18 minutes.

Ernie has raised £1,102, which will be split equally between MHA and MHA Anjulita Court.

Half of the money will support MHA’s chaplaincy and music therapy services, while the remaining £551 will go towards Anjulita Court’s residents’ amenities fund.
