Former paediatric oncology nurse from India hopes to progress his career in UK nursing after joining MHA Davids House

MHA is celebrating the dedication and ambition of care assistant Saumi Christian as part of its 30 Under 30 initiative, which highlights young employees across the organisation and promotes social care as a rewarding career choice for people aged 30 and under.

Saumi, 29, joined MHA Davids House in October 2023 as a bank care assistant before taking up a permanent position in September 2024.

Originally from India, Saumi previously worked as a paediatric oncology nurse, supporting children receiving cancer treatment. Since moving to the UK in 2023, he has continued to build his experience in social care while working towards his ambition of returning to nursing in the UK.

He is currently studying for the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE),
